I grew up in San Francisco, California. I loved growing up in such a diverse city at such an exciting time, I was too young too really participate in the 60’s scene but it was happening before my eyes and made a big impression on me. I value freedom and artistic expression and the Bay Area was teaming with both. It was also a hub of many of the new alternative modalities being offered, and still is today.

I graduated from college with a BA in Dance and Theater arts, and a minor in Human Biology which largely is the study of animal behavior. I studied a variety of monkeys but mostly chimpanzees. I was a professional dancer until I discovered Jin Shin Jyutsu in 1981.

My passions are varied, I love the performing arts and have an appreciation for design, I really enjoy cooking good food and wine tasting, I have a serious yoga practice, love spending time in nature, I’m crazy about animals,   I enjoy writing, tea is an obsession, and I simply adore my two daughters, Emily and Olivia, who have been my greatest teachers along with Mary Burmeister.I’m curious about people, animals, the mysteries and questions of life, questions you live in rather than answer. As a child I wanted to be a detective, it all makes sense now. And then I found JIn Shin Jytusu which brought it all together in the most beautiful way. Most of my adult life has been spent studying and practicing JSJ, and I’ve been teaching this art since 2002 world-wide.

I have a lot of experience in working with critical illnesses. I had a life-threatening illness myself in 1996 which is integrated into my teaching and my outlook on life. After I recovered, I worked in an oncology center for eight years until I left to become a JSJ instructor.

I have the desire and like the challenge of living the philosophy of Jin Shin Jyutsu.
